Cranchi Yachts Adopts Propspeed as Standard

Italian luxury yacht builder Cranchi Yachts has selected Propspeed foul-release coatings as a standard feature for all models measuring 62 feet (18.9m) or more, including the Settantotto 78, starting January 2026. The move follows a period of extensive testing and reflects Cranchi’s commitment to long-term performance and environmental responsibility below the waterline.

On these yachts, Propspeed will be applied to Volvo IPS propellers, Lightspeed coatings to underwater lighting, and Foulfree Multi-Surface to Humphree stabilizing fins and interceptors. For smaller Cranchi models between 26 and 46 feet, the same coatings are available upon request, providing flexible protection across the range.

Cranchi Yachts emphasized that Propspeed coatings support efficient hull performance, reduce maintenance demands, and help safeguard the marine environment. “Propspeed’s foul-release coatings enhance long-term performance while reflecting our commitment to reducing environmental impact below the waterline, giving owners and operators added peace of mind,” the company stated.

Propspeed, headquartered in New Zealand with EMEA operations led by Davide Burrini, specializes in biocide-free coatings designed for underwater running gear, metal and non-metal components, and lighting systems. Burrini added, “We’re grateful for the trust placed in our products by leading yacht builders like Cranchi. Our coatings help vessels maintain peak performance while protecting the ocean, improving efficiency, and reducing carbon emissions.”

Founded in 1870 and still led by the Cranchi family in partnership with the Monzino family since 1970, Cranchi has a long history of combining Italian craftsmanship with modern yacht technology. By making Propspeed coatings standard on larger models, the company reinforces its reputation for quality, performance, and sustainability, while giving owners reliable protection below the waterline from the day of delivery.

Propspeed’s current range includes Propspeed for running gear and underwater metals, Foulfree Multi-Surface System for non-metal surfaces, Lightspeed for underwater lighting, and Stripspeed, a foul-release coating remover.
