Global brokerage house Northrop & Johnson has confirmed the sale of the 66.8-metre offshore rescue vessel Ocean Falcon, previously marketed as a 70-metre explorer yacht platform primed for luxury conversion.
Originally delivered in 2015 by Spanish shipyard Astilleros Zamakona as a commercial rescue ship, Ocean Falcon was later acquired by an owner with ambitions to transform her into a high-volume explorer yacht for private use and charter. In 2022, the vessel arrived at Lürssen’s Bremen facility for a planned four-metre extension and extensive rebuild. However, by August 2024, the conversion was officially halted due to technical and logistical challenges, and the yacht was subsequently reintroduced to the market as a highly adaptable expedition platform.
With a robust steel hull and an impressive internal volume of approximately 2,950GT, Ocean Falcon offers exceptional capability for long-range cruising and operations in remote regions, including polar and transoceanic routes. She cruises comfortably at 12.5 knots and reaches a top speed of 15 knots, underscoring her commercial-grade reliability.
Brokers Kevin Merrigan and Kristen Klein represented the transaction, highlighting the vessel’s strength, versatility and potential for future redevelopment. Originally listed at €14,950,000, Ocean Falcon presents a rare opportunity: a proven offshore platform ready for bespoke transformation into a next-generation luxury explorer yacht.
Details regarding the new owner’s refit plans have not yet been disclosed, but the sale signals continued demand for large explorer conversions within the evolving superyacht market.
