The second half of 2025 marked a defining chapter for Dutch shipyard Oceanco. Following a change in ownership that saw tech entrepreneur Gabe Newell acquire the yard, Oceanco went on to launch and deliver two 111-metre superyachts in November—each sharing technical DNA, yet conceived with entirely different ambitions.
The yachts in question, Leviathan and DreAMBoat, were both engineered by Lateral Naval Architects and feature interiors by Mark Berryman. Despite their similarities in scale and platform, their design philosophies diverge significantly.

Leviathan: A Purpose-Driven Platform
At 4,970GT with a 17.8-metre beam, Leviathan is currently among the largest yachts in Oceanco’s fleet. Commissioned by Newell himself, the yacht reflects a “human-centric” yet function-forward philosophy. Diesel-electric propulsion combined with battery energy storage enables extended low-emission operation, while advanced wastewater systems exceed standard environmental requirements.
Material selection prioritised durability and low maintenance, supporting both crew efficiency and long-term operational resilience. Rather than emphasising overt indulgence, Leviathan positions itself as a technologically advanced exploration and research-capable platform—an embodiment of its owner’s interest in innovation and purposeful design.

DreAMBoat: Lifestyle and Legacy
By contrast, DreAMBoat represents the return of a repeat Oceanco client. Following the original 90-metre yacht delivered in 2019, this 4,550GT successor focuses on family living and entertainment.
With exterior styling by Espen Øino, the yacht blends modern lines with classic proportions. Lifestyle amenities take centre stage: a wellness complex with gym and spa, indoor and outdoor cinemas, a winter garden, cocktail lounge, beach club with bar, and even a sundeck golf simulator. A private owner’s deck ensures seclusion when desired.
Environmental considerations remain integral. The yacht incorporates a Life Cycle Assessment tool to monitor carbon impact and features a battery pack optimised for peak shaving. Interior finishes were sourced from Swiss ethical design brand Nature Squared.

Two Directions, One Shipyard
Together, these launches highlight Oceanco’s evolving identity under new ownership. One yacht pushes technological boundaries with purpose-led innovation; the other refines the art of luxury living for a returning client.
In delivering both simultaneously, Oceanco demonstrates its ability to balance experimentation with tradition—positioning itself at the forefront of the next era in superyacht design.
